How to use StackPop

StackPop helps you rediscover the games you already own. Here's everything you need to get started.

Getting started

  1. 1.Create an account. Sign up with a username and password, Google, or Steam. It's free. No ads, no premium tiers.
  2. 2.Add your games. Search IGDB to add games one at a time, import from Steam, upload a PriceCharting CSV, or type in custom entries. Every platform from NES to PS5 is supported.
  3. 3.Pop a game. Hit the button on the Play page and StackPop picks a random game from your collection. Use filters to narrow by platform, genre, or release year.

Playing a game

Play & Pause

Tap Play to start a session. StackPop tracks your time automatically. Pause when you step away. Your playtime is logged in your history.

Skipping

Not feeling the pick? Skip it. You choose the cooldown: one day, one week, or one month. The game disappears for a while, then comes back on its own. No guilt.

Completing

When you're done with a game, mark it as completed. Give it a rating out of ten and leave a note while it's fresh. Then pop the next one.

Hiding & Priority

Hide games you never want to see in the queue. Or mark a game as priority to bump it to the front of your stack.

Importing your collection

Search IGDB

Add games one at a time by searching the IGDB database. Pick the platform and the game is added with full metadata.

PriceCharting

Export your collection at pricecharting.com/export-collection (Category: Video Games). They'll email you a ZIP file. Upload it here.

Steam

Link your Steam account in Account settings, then import your entire library with one click. Your Steam profile must be set to public. Once linked, StackPop syncs your playtime automatically in the background.

Manual entry

Can't find a game in any database? Type in the title, pick a platform, and tag the genre yourself. Great for demos, imports, fan translations, or anything else.

Profiles & achievements

Public profile

Share your gaming journey at stackpop.app/u/yourname. Your currently playing game, recently completed titles, stats, and earned badges, all on one page. Toggle visibility in Account settings.

Achievements

Earn 18 badges as you play, from your first completion to a 30-day streak, exploring new genres, or logging 50+ hours on a single game. Check your progress on the Achievements page.

Share cards

Generate a branded image card for any completed game with the cover art, your rating, and hours played. Download it or copy to clipboard to share on Discord, Reddit, or social media.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a game backlog?

A game backlog is the collection of video games you own but haven't played yet. Many gamers accumulate large backlogs through sales, bundles, and impulse purchases, often hundreds of unplayed games across Steam, consoles, and handhelds.

How do I manage my video game backlog?

StackPop helps you manage your backlog by picking a random game for you to play. Add your games from Steam, PriceCharting, or IGDB, then let StackPop choose what you play next. Skip cooldowns prevent you from endlessly skipping, and ratings help you track what you've finished.

Can I import my Steam library?

Yes. Link your Steam account in your StackPop settings, then import your entire library with one click. Your Steam profile needs to be set to public. Once linked, StackPop also syncs your playtime automatically in the background.

Is StackPop free?

Yes, StackPop is completely free. No ads, no premium tiers, no paywalls. All features including Steam import, achievements, public profiles, and unlimited games are available to every user.
